There is no single best prop firm for a beginner, but there is a best match for each kind of beginner. If you need time to learn, FTMO says its CFD Challenge has no time limit. If you want the lowest published entry price among the plans here, FundedNext's Lite plan starts at $32.99 for a $5K account. If you want the fewest ways to fail on a bad day, MyFundedFutures' Rapid plan has no daily loss limit. Whatever you pick, expect to fail more often than you pass: the published pass rates we found run from 16.8% to 36.22%.

We checked the rules and prices below on each firm's own pages on 4 and 5 October 2026. FTMO pays us a commission when you sign up through our link; none of the other firms in this guide do, and their links on this page are plain. That did not affect which firms we picked. Who pays us and how much.

What matters for a beginner

Three things shape how forgiving a challenge is, and the firm's rules decide each one.

  • The clock. A time limit pushes you into oversized trades to hit the target. Apex gives you 30 calendar days with no extensions. FTMO says its CFD Challenge has no time limit.
  • The loss limits. A daily loss limit ends your day or your account; a trailing max loss rises with your profit.
  • The rules you only learn later. Consistency rules, news windows and risk caps can reduce or block a payout after you have made the profit.

Prices are the smallest-size prices shown on the dates above; some were promotions, and prices change often, so the checkout page wins. The futures limits are dollar amounts on a 50K account.

Our picks, by situation

You want time to learn: FTMO

FTMO says its CFD Challenge has no time limit, and a Free Trial exists. The 2-Step has a 5% daily loss and a 10% static max loss, and the fee may be refunded with your first withdrawal. The trade-off is strict loss limits and a 4-day minimum. Read our FTMO review first. FTMO scores 84/100 in our tracker.

You want the cheapest try: FundedNext Lite

Lite starts at $32.99 for a $5K account, with a 4% daily loss, an 8% static max loss and a refund with your third payout. Two cautions from FundedNext's own rules: on funded accounts only 40% of profit made within 5 minutes of high-impact news counts, and open risk is capped at 3%, enforced after the fact: profit from trades that breach the cap is removed. Read the FundedNext review before paying. It scores 82/100.

You hate daily loss limits: MyFundedFutures Rapid

Rapid has no daily loss limit, a $2,000 end-of-day max loss on the 50K plan and a 2-day minimum, at a promo price of $125 on 5 October. MFF publishes an unflattering funnel, which we count in its favour: 19.97% of evaluation participants passed and 39.2% of funded traders received a payout. The Industry Spread reports a pattern of accounts closed soon after withdrawal requests, though individual cases are unverified. It scores 84/100. See MyFundedFutures vs Apex.

Why not Apex or FundedNext Instant?

Apex scores 75/100 in our tracker, but it gives 30 days and a six-payout cap per funded account, which suits a trader who already has a tested plan more than someone still learning. FundedNext Instant has no profit target or daily loss limit, but its 6% trailing max loss and lack of a fee refund make it a harder first purchase than its price suggests. What the pass rates say

  • Topstep: 16.8% of Trading Combines started in 2025 were completed, and 33.3% of funded individuals received a payout.
  • Take Profit Trader: 36.22% of Trading Tests were passed in 2025 (16.86% in 2024). Those are pass rates, not payout rates.
  • MyFundedFutures: 19.97% of evaluation participants passed.

These are the firms' own figures. Plan for several attempts or none, and budget so that a failed attempt is a lesson you can afford.

A short checklist before you pay

  1. Trade a demo account under the same rules for a few weeks. If you cannot stay inside the daily limit on demo, you will not on a challenge.
  2. Risk a small fixed share of the account per trade, and write down your daily stop before the session starts.
  3. Read the consistency, news and weekend rules for the exact plan you are buying. They differ between plans at the same firm (see consistency rules compared).
  4. Check the firm's restricted-countries list and its KYC steps before you pay, since KYC can block a payout.
  5. Decide your total budget for evaluations in advance, and do not top it up after a loss.

FAQ

What is the easiest prop firm to pass? We know of no reliable easiest-to-pass ranking. The published pass rates (16.8% to 36.22%) show these evaluations are hard.

What is the cheapest prop firm to start with? On 4 October 2026, FundedNext Lite showed $32.99 for a $5K account. MyFundedFutures Rapid showed $125 on 5 October. Prices change, so check the checkout.

Should a beginner choose forex or futures? That depends on what you already trade. Futures plans here use dollar drawdowns on a 50K account; forex-style CFD plans use percentages of the starting balance. Learn the one you already understand.

Do I get my fee back? Sometimes. FTMO's 2-Step fee may be refunded with your first withdrawal; FundedNext refunds with the first or third payout depending on the plan, and not on Instant.
