What changed at Apex, and why it matters
Apex used to charge a monthly subscription while an evaluation ran. Now you pay once for 30 calendar days of access: nothing renews, nothing to cancel, no extensions [6]. Our Apex vs Topstep guide dates the switch to 1 March 2026. The same overhaul moved payout consistency to 50% and added the six-payout cap per funded account [12][13].
That cap is the number to model. On a $50K account the official ceilings add up to $13,000 over six EOD payouts and $14,500 over six Intraday payouts, then the account closes (our arithmetic from Apex's tables). MyFundedFutures has no equivalent lifetime cap on the plans we checked; Pro caps a single payout at $100,000 [5].
Payout evidence
- Apex: its payouts page showed $828M+ total since 2022 on 5 October 2026 [16] (our May firm page said $598M+). Self-reported; no pass rate or paid share published. The page says "No denied payouts. No payout reviews." [16] while its risk disclosure calls payouts "discretionary" [15].
- MyFundedFutures: homepage claims $250M+ paid [1]. It also publishes a funnel: 19.97% of evaluation participants passed, 39.2% of funded traders got at least one payout, 4.2% moved to live [1]. Unflattering, which is part of why we take it seriously. Apex publishes nothing comparable.
Complaints and risks
MyFundedFutures. The Industry Spread reports "a recurring complaint pattern" of accounts terminated soon after a withdrawal request, citing "multiple profiles" or "coordinated trading" without shared evidence; it couldn't verify individual cases [17]. Pro's Consistent Trading Policy allows closure for behaviour like "maxing contracts on every trade" [4], a judgement call. Rapid's funded drawdown trails unrealised gains intraday until it locks [3].
Apex. ImanTrading (a critic site that promotes competitors) documents past payout denials and a wave of bans on profitable traders in May 2025 [18], mostly before the 2026 overhaul. The current rulebook still has subjective closure grounds such as "deviating from professional standards" and "unsustainable strategies" [14]. Intraday drawdown follows unrealised peak equity and never moves down [9].
Who each suits
MyFundedFutures suits traders who want the cheapest, simplest route to funded ($0 activation, no daily loss limit, 2-day minimum), active day traders who want daily payouts at 90/10, and traders who want one large account with high withdrawal limits and a published route to live (Pro).
Apex suits traders who want 100% of approved payouts and a choice of drawdown model, and who are comfortable running several accounts (up to 20) to work around the six-payout ceiling. Not for anyone who needs more than 30 days to pass.
Neither suits you if you haven't traded futures against a trailing drawdown. By MFF's own figures, roughly four in five evaluations fail [1].
Our position
Our scores favour Apex for its longer payout record and scale; they aren't a recommendation for your style. On rules alone, MFF is cheaper to fund and less restrictive; Apex pays a better split for a smaller lifetime amount per account.
